After having analyzed the famous “I have a dream” speech by Martin Luther King, Jr. in the English class, the teacher challenged the 11th grade students of classes  A, B, D and F to write a poem, which focused on their own hopes and dreams for the future. The following poems are examples of students’ hard work and creativity. Congratulations!

I have a dream
Trapped inside of me
Like a constant repressed scream
Always begging to leave

They say our choices
Have been doomed by our older generations
Be aware, make a change
Go against your temptations

All shades live here black, white, yellow, brown
Embrace your powerful gift of tolerance
Raise your voice, be loud
And don’t bring anyone down

Share what you have in common
Close your eyes and you’ll see
Deep inside our wicked bodies
Our souls run equally free

I dream day and night
Of a change in colours,
A miraculous awakening,
Whose eyes are seeing.
I dream every morning
Of a new seed in humanity
That may flourish and fill in with love
The holes our hearts have so urgently been squeezing.
I dream every afternoon
Of a time that isn’t contained
And the hours, minutes and seconds
Are lost in eternity forever.
I dream every evening
Of insightful ideas
Filled with honesty and bravery
To defeat the cultural chains of our ancestors.
I dream every night
Of the brightest of stars
That stand out and change
With nothing but humanity.

I dream of the moment
We breathe with no restrains,
Only with compassion and understanding:
When we live in peace and just breathe.

"Miúdos a votos" - votação final

  No   passado dia 12 de março, os alunos do 3º ciclo deslocaram-se à BE para votarem no "livro mais fixe", uma iniciativa desenvolvida a nível nacional, resultante da colaboração entre a revista Visão Júnior, a  RBE  e as bibliotecas escolares. Ao longo do dia, a mesa eleitoral foi constituída por alunos do  7ºF  e do  7ºA  que, na posse dos cadernos eleitorais, foram procedendo à entrega do boletim de voto a cada eleitor. No final do dia, procedemos ao escrutínio, tendo-se apurado os seguintes resultados: -   O  Homícidio  Perfeito: um guia para boas raparigas ,  Holly  Jackson  -  67 votos -   O rapaz do pijama às riscas , John  Boyne   -  43 votos -   Isto acaba aqui ,  Colleen   Hoover   -  28 votos -   O Diário de  Anne  Frank ,  Anne  Frank  -  24 votos -  Cherub: O Recruta , Robert Muchamore - 23 votos -   Amor e...

"A arte de ser português"

  A 13 de dezembro, o professor Jorge Cerejeira voltou à ESQM a fim de fazer uma apresentação sobre "A arte de ser português", para as turmas A, B, C e D, do 12º ano, acompanhadas pelas professoras Maria Filomena Santos e Sandra Carreira. Os objetivos das sessões foram os de fomentar o gosto pela leitura e, principalmente, compreender Mensagem , de Fernando Pessoa. Interligando a poesia e a música, Jorge Cerejeira deu a conhecer aos alunos alguns compositores como Sérgio Godinho, de quem se ouviu "Etelvina", bem como o diseur Mário Viegas, com um poema de Mário-Henrique Leiria. Foi lido "O poema do menino Jesus", de Alberto Caeiro, e feita a relação entre este menino tão desejado e D. Sebastião, coroado rei aos 14 anos, esperança de renovação do império português. Também foi declamado "Cântico Negro", de José Régio, poema irmão de "Lisbon revisited". Foi abordado o contexto do Estado Novo e referida a dualidade estranha em rel...
